Atlantic International Film Festival 2024 – CONTRACT POSITIONS

The Atlantic International Film Festival is currently accepting applications for six contract staff people in various departments including: marketing, box office, volunteer coordination, partnerships, operations and programming.

These positions are funded through the Job Creation Partnership program of Employment Nova Scotia and applicants must be eligible for that program in order to qualify. If you are not eligible for the JCP program but wish to be considered for other positions should they come up please indicate that on your application form.

Employment: June 2024 - Sept. 2024
Remuneration: Rate set by Employment NS
Location: AIFF Office, 1888 Brunswick Street, Halifax, NS. This position is not suitable for remote work or work from home.

AIFF has opportunities in various departments, all related to the planning and implementation for AIFF 2024 and AIFF Partners 2024. Please let us know in the application form if you feel you're especially suited to certain roles. Areas of work include:

  • Program and conference planning

  • Volunteer management

  • Film programming and print traffic

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Verbal Communication Skills: You should be comfortable reaching out to others, giving instructions, and answering questions in a professional context. 

  • Writing Skills: You should be able to draft reports, schedules, documents, and presentations, as well as professional emails to stakeholders. 

  • Customer Service: You should demonstrate exceptional customer service, with advanced verbal and written communication skills

  • Information Management: You should have experience researching and organizing information in a database, as well as looking up relevant information and locating files. 

  • Technical Skills: You should be able to work with different software, including Google Drive and the Office 365 suite of programs. You should be comfortable learning new systems as required.

  • Problem Solving: You are able to assess situations, identify problems, explore options, and make recommendations. 

  • Positive Attitude: You can deal with many different types of people, problems and situations in a constructive and friendly way.

  • Responsibility: You can work with minimal supervision, set goals and priorities, and prioritize your time to achieve results.

  • Adaptability: You can work both independently and as part of a team, carry out multiple tasks, be resourceful, and accept feedback.

  • Teamwork: You understand the dynamics of working with a group to meet the objectives of a team; you are flexible and supportive of team members; you accept and provide feedback in a constructive way.

*Eligibility

Candidates for this position must be eligible to access the Job Creation Partnership employment program by meeting ONE of the following criteria: 

  • Have a current Employment Insurance (EI) claim

  • Have received benefits under the EI emergency response benefit within the previous 60 months

  • Have had an EI claim that ended within the last 5 years

ABOUT AIFF: The Atlantic International Film Festival (AIFF) is an eight-day festival featuring screenings of 200+ films; Q&As, receptions, industry events and gatherings. The festival celebrates new and established filmmaking voices from Atlantic Canada and around the world, helping audiences discover new artists, uncover new perspectives and better understand the world through the medium of cinema. The festival presents films that cover a broad range of topics and genres, and is dedicated to presenting and elevating work from creators who are female-identified, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+ and Deaf and Disabled. The 44th AIFF will take place September 11th - 18th, 2024, at Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane in downtown Halifax.
