How do I watch the film?

PCs running Windows 7+ Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera. Internet Explorer is not supported.

How do I get tickets? / Where is your Box Office located?

This year, we have no physical Box Office. All ticket purchases can be made through FINpedia at https://program.finfestival.ca. Ticket links are on each film's individual listing.

Festival pass-holders do not need to reserve tickets in advance and instead receive an email with further information on accessing the online streaming portal. Emails will be issued to all patrons with direct links to the films for which tickets have been purchased.

How do FIN STREAM Festival and Bubble Passes Work?

FIN Stream Festival passes are a great option if you are hoping to enjoy our Atlantic Canadian content. Passes give you access to an online portal that contains all of our Atlantic Canadian content with the exception of PEACE BY CHOCOLATE. You can stop, start, change films and restart freely throughout the eight days of the festival, similar to other streaming services. The exception is for Gala Presentations - a new Gala Presentation will become available each night of the festival at 7 PM and can be streamed within 24 hours following its release.

There are two types of passes available, the Festival Pass and the Bubble Pass. We are offering Bubble Passes as a way for you to extend your support for FIN and our future programming. They are an option for if there will be more than one person enjoying the festival in your home. Once you purchase your pass, how to create your membership to access FIN Stream will be emailed to you as part of your purchase confirmation.  For more information on pricing and links to purchase passes, visit our online Box Office page.

Can I watch the film in more than one location?

Each film can only be watched on one internet connection or network, but can be watched by any device on that same network. I.e., you can start watching a film on your computer, and then continue on a tablet or phone, as long as those devices are on the same network. You cannot start watching at home, and then continue watching at a second location such as a friend’s home.

If you are experiencing issues continuing watching on a second device, ensure that both devices are in the same location and on the same network.

Can I watch from outside the Atlantic provinces?

No. Due to film licensing agreements, our ticketing system, ShowPass, uses your IP address to determine if you are within the region, and will not allow you to purchase a ticket if you are not in the Atlantic region. Additionally, CineSend, our streaming partner, uses your IP address to determine your location when viewing films, and you will be unable to stream if you are outside the region.

WHY DOES YOUR SITE SAY THAT I'M OUTSIDE THE ATLANTIC PROVINCES WHEN I'M NOT?

There are two main reasons why you might be experiencing this message:

The first is that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) - Eastlink, Bell Aliant, Purple Cow, Citywide, etc. - has given you an IP address associated with somewhere outside the Atlantic region. This issue is most familiar with cellular data plans, so if you’re experiencing problems buying or watching on your phone, the first step is to try from another device, especially one on your home internet network. We cannot bypass this issue: if you do not connect with a local IP address, you would need to speak to your provider about being provisioned with a new one.

The second possibility is that you may have a VPN active. A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is used to connect your computer to a private system via the internet without publicly exposing it. This is not uncommon now with the increase of people working from home accessing their company’s remote server. If this is the case, your best option is to try another device on your home network or reach out to your company’s system administrators if you need assistance temporarily deactivating your VPN.

It is possible to experience both of these issues simultaneously, in which case both would need to be resolved.

How many people can watch with me? Can I invite friends?

This year, we are offering ‘Single Tickets’ and ‘Bubble Watch’ tickets. Single tickets are intended for people who are watching our films solo. We encourage you to purchase a Bubble Watch ticket to watch with your friends, family, and whoever is joining you in your bubble (following all relevant directives from public health authorities). This helps to support the festival and ensure our ongoing ability to bring you the very best films.

How many times can I watch a film? Can I watch more than once?

Yes! Once a film is started, you have 24 hours to finish watching, but in those 24 hours, you can start, stop, and restart as many times as you like.

Pass-holders can use the online portal to access the films as they choose for the festival's duration. The exception is the Galas, which have specific, 24-hour windows of availability.

How do I use a discount, promo, or voucher code?

Select your film tickets as if you were purchasing them. During checkout, before entering your payment information, there will be an option to “Enter Promo, Discount or Credit Code.” Enter your code there, and the ticket’s price will be adjusted to be free.

The movie I want to see is sold out. What can I do?

Just as with a live festival, we have a limited number of tickets to sell for each screening. Buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment!

Do I need to give you my phone number/email/personal information? Do I need an account to watch the films?

You do require an account to watch films being offered through FIN Stream. A Showpass account is necessary to purchase tickets and passes, and if you buy a pass, you will need a CineSend account to access the film portal (An email with instructions on setting up your CineSend account will be sent to all pass-holders.) Additionally, we need to contact you if there are any program changes affecting tickets you’ve purchased. For example, a screening could be cancelled for various reasons, and we would need to contact you to let you know and process any necessary exchanges or refunds.

FIN will not sell or disclose your personal information to anyone. It is an offence to send marketing and promotional emails from unrelated external companies without your consent in Canada.

How can I pay for MY tickets?

Purchases through https://program.finfestival.ca may be made with any major credit card or VISA Debit.

Is there a program guide?

This year, the program guide can be found online, at www.finfestival.ca, as an interactive PDF. Additionally, FINpedia, at https://program.finfestival.ca, lists all of our films and includes direct links to purchase tickets.

We do not have printed program guides available in 2021.
