Closing Night Party

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, 1675 Lower Water Street

Our Closing Night Gala is always about the upcoming Awards season and we think we nailed it again - and this year it has a “local flavour” which is beyond exciting!  THE LIGHTHOUSE is a film that is going to be talked about and celebrated globally – let’s start that celebration here in the province it was made in!

FIN is thrilled to be putting on our Closing Night Party with venue partner Maritime Museum of the Atlantic to continue the nautical theme of our Closing Night Gala THE LIGHTHOUSE!

This event is open to Full Festival Passholders and “Closing Night Film & Party” Ticket Holders exclusively.

Mastering the Festival Launch

For most independent filmmakers, film festivals are a primary goal for premiering their productions and further developing their careers. Yet, with some 5000 film festivals worldwide, pragmatic and informed decisions must be made. Sean Farnel, formerly a programmer at TIFF and Hot Docs, will present an overview of film festival distribution strategies and the Documentary Organization of Canada's Festival Concierge service.

with Sean Farnel

Sean Farnel provides creative, marketing and distribution services to documentary producers, companies and institutions. Farnel was the first Director of Programming for Hot Docs, which tripled its audience during his six-year tenure. Prior to joining Hot Docs, Sean created the popular screening series Doc Soup and founded the documentary programme at the Toronto International Film Festival. Sean has done research and strategic consulting for the National Film Board of Canada, Telefilm Canada, FilmFreeway and other media companies in the private and public sectors. Along with writing for numerous publications, Sean has served as a mentor, facilitator, and juror at many international film events.

The filmmakers behind Conviction will be joining Sean Farnel for a Q&A session!
